Never one to stay within pre-established lines, the Oslo artist has come back with a club-ready jam, ‘New York’. Produced by Undr while holed up in a New York hotel during a particularly bad storm, the track is an experiment in get-up beats and some clever vocal production. Throughout the background a siren-like sound calls out, like the storm warnings outside on the streets, but listening to ‘New York’ we’re insulated from all the drama, lost in the rhythm of his highly contemporary electronic track. Completed while Farida has been living in Los Angeles, ‘New York’ is certainly different - good different. - HT
